The Bahamas has a diverse ecosystem of coral reefs ranging in 20-100 ft. range. Snorkeling is a great way to get in the water and experience the marine life firsthand. We stop at some of the best snorkeling areas the Bahamas has to offer. We even snorkel the historic wreck known as the Sapona. This wreck has large schools of colorful reef fish all in under 20' of water. Although we follow the buddy system while snorkeling, there will be a crewmember on the deck keeping a watchful eye on the scouts in the water.
Scouts can also try spearfishing as the Bahamas have some of the tastiest fish around. Bahamas law says that all spearfishing & conch collecting must be done snorkeling with Hawaiian slings or pole spears which we have onboard. They might get a hogfish, grouper, and snapper among others. The Bahamas has an abundance of spiny lobster to catch, but lobster season is closed from April 1 until July 31. The scouts will get to eat whatever fish they catch. They can also snorkel for conch (pronounced konk) and learn how to remove them from their shells and clean them. The group will get to eat whatever fish, lobster & conch they catch.
