Tropical Marine Science Field Courses

Create the ideal field experience with the widest variety of study habitats
Bahamas scuba diving liveaboards Blackbeard’s Cruises

Give your marine science class the field study opportunity of a lifetime on a Blackbeard's live-aboard trip through the islands of the Bahamas! Whether the class is marine biology, coastal or marine ecology, oceanography, conservation biology or environmental science, let your students immerse themselves in a pristine tropical underwater environment as the ideal field component to a marine science class. All boats have plenty of room on deck and in the salon to teach a lesson or lecture on the high seas, quickly followed by underwater or land-based immersion activities to allow students to observe marine science principles firsthand. Focus on group or individual research projects, or get a broader feel for tropical marine and terrestrial habitats, and the conservation issues associated with each ecosystem. Groups can also choose to contribute to several ongoing marine conservation projects, such as threatened species relocation and invasive species removal with the help of the Blackbeard's team. While SCUBA certification is a great asset for students participating on a liveaboard field course, non-certified students can get the full underwater experience through snorkeling in the magnificently clear waters of the Bahamas, where visibility is often around 80-100 feet. In addition to beautiful marine habitats, the Bahamas offer pristine national parks and protected areas ideal for studying terrestrial tropical ecology.
